Mexico remained at the top of the 2023 Pole Championship Series (PCS) with Jesús Avalos and Montserrat Lara participating in this discipline as their tube acrobatics earned them gold medals during the tournament held during the International Sports Festival. Although the Mexican duo of Montserrat Lara and Jesús Avalos won gold for Mexico in the duet category, they performed three routines that earned them recognition from the public and judges at the Pole Championship Series.
“The routines of these Mexican athletes were perfectly balanced, with a high level of difficulty, strength, flexibility, synchronization, choreography and creativity,” said Tara Meyer, Canadian referee for the event. Although there are prejudiced opinions about this practice, when performed in competition it has a code of points that governs the sport and divides qualification into four sections:

Jesús Avalos, 22, and Montserrat Lara, 19, from Moreli, secured their spots in the championship after winning the APS World Air and Polar Sports Championship last October, held in Cancún. Quintana Roo.

The Mexican Federation of Pole Sports (FEMEXPOLE), part of the National Sports Commission, intends to have more national competitors in this championship by 2024.
“Mexico is a world leader in aerial sports and pole sports. Our athletes have been on different medal tables since 2016 and this international championship was no exception”, says Gizabel Olmos, president of the Mexican Federation of Polar Sports.
In the Pole Championship Series, they promoted over 50 different physical disciplines. Femexpole, the association that manages this talent in Mexico, intends to recruit more national competitors for this tournament next year, as well as continue to promote the discipline to have a greater presence around the world.
