With the dawn of the Wi-Fi 7 era, Qualcomm Technologies has re-introduced itself as a world leader in wireless technology innovation; Work with our ecosystem of global partners and lead the transition to the next generation of WiFi. With 25 years of experience in WiFi technology and growing numbers, we are the #1 WiFi semiconductor company (by units) with over 6.5 billion WiFi products sold.
Based on strong leadership in WiFi 6/6E
Our success in Wi-Fi is no accident. The transition from WiFi 6 and 6E paved the way for what’s to come. Today, our leadership in innovation and collaboration with manufacturers has enabled the release or development of more than 1,600 WiFi 6 and 6E compatible products. This includes a complete hardware ecosystem: access point, router, gateway, smartphone, PC, XR and more.
Our networking platforms are also a WiFi 6 and 6E standard for home and enterprise networks, with over 650 projects launched or in development. Recent releases of the innovative mesh WiFi system are driving global adoption in a category where we are a leader and where our technology is widely used. The demand for better WiFi performance has also led Qualcomm to success in enterprise networking, demonstrating the value our innovations deliver.
End-to-end WiFi 7 enhancement
Following the successful adoption of our WiFi 6 and 6E offerings, we are beginning the transition to the next generation in 2022 with the launch of the full WiFi 7 portfolio.
First, we introduce the Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 WiFi/Bluetooth system for smartphones, PCs and VR/AR/XR devices, providing a unique system-to-antenna baseband approach. By incorporating new front-end RF modules (Qualcomm QXM1086 and QXM1083 for 5-7 GHz and 2.4 GHz, respectively), the complete system leverages innovative Qualcomm ultraBAW filter technology and Qualcomm Diplexer to increase performance and efficiency. wireless in general. power, with a maximum power consumption saving of up to 1W during WiFi transmission. With these benefits, it’s not surprising that most device designs launched or under development with the FastConnect 7800 incorporate Qualcomm RF Front-end technology.
The FastConnect 7800 offers unique performance-enhancing WiFi 7 features available only from Qualcomm so far, including simultaneous High-Band Multi-Banding (HBS).
HBS Multi-Link is essential for areas where the 6GHz WiFi band is not available. For users in these countries, HBS Multi-Link is the only possible way to achieve significant performance, with a maximum speed of 4.3 Gbps, surpassing what was possible with the previous generation of WiFi.
For access points and routers, we introduce the professional WiFi 7 Networking Pro Series platforms, which set new standards in WiFi 7 performance for high-end networks for stadiums, large enterprises and premium home networking systems. Our Immersive Home WiFi 7 platforms are designed
specifically for the home and are designed to cover every corner of the home with multi-gigabit connectivity and wire-like stability.
Qualcomm innovations like Qualcomm Multi-Link Mesh are redefining the home network with a new paradigm of customer-facing dynamically routed wireless links.
Our customers bet on WiFi 7
“The superior performance and ultra-low latency offered by the next generation of WiFi 7 will be essential for work and play on PCs,” said James Lin, General Manager Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer. “We are excited to continue our collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies to deliver premium experiences with superior connectivity and powerful features.”
“WiFi 7 will significantly improve the quality of home and commercial wireless connectivity, which will benefit service providers and their customers,” said Malgorzata Ott, CEO of the Asian Development Bank. “We are already seeing strong demand for WiFi 7 from our service providers and enterprise customers, and we expect rapid adoption of this technology. Working closely with Qualcomm Technologies has ensured rapid integration and excellent features, which are showcased in WiFi tri- leading band 7 broadband access gateway.”
Our long-standing collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies spans multiple generations of WiFi and includes innovative features like 4-Stream DBS for exceptional enterprise, gaming and consumer PC experiences. “We can’t wait for our users to get the next generation of WiFi 7-enabled PCs,” said Jason Banta, corporate vice president of customers for AMD.
“One of the key experiences and demands of our customers is seamless connectivity. With Qualcomm Technologies’ FastConnect 7800 connectivity platform, the best wireless connectivity and network experience will be achieved in Honor Magic5 and Magic5 Pro, we believe that WiFi 7 is here in 2023, and it was an obvious choice to direct.” Li Kun, General Manager of Magic Series Business, HONOR Device Co., Ltd. said:
“WiFi 7 is the foundational technology for our next product line, marking our 35th anniversary as a pillar of wireless networking. Mesh WiFi is quickly becoming the top choice in the home and small office, and Qualcomm’s multilink operational implementation Technologies (MLO) offers the flexibility and capacity our customers demand in these segments,” said Jonathan, CEO of Linksys Betino.
“As we move into the Metaverse, fast connectivity is a key component to enabling the best possible immersive experiences,” said Bruno Sindon-Martin, Senior Director of Wireless Technologies, Reality Labs at Meta. “We are excited about the potential that the WiFi 7 standard will help unlock, and we appreciate Qualcomm Technologies’ role in driving progress towards making this a reality.”
